Determining Nonsmooth First Order Terms from Partial Boundary Measurements

چکیده
We extend results of Dos Santos Ferreira-Kenig-SjöstrandUhlmann (arXiv:math.AP/0601466) to less smooth coefficients, and we show that measurements on part of the boundary for the magnetic Schrödinger operator determine uniquely the magnetic field related to a Hölder continuous potential. We give a similar result for determining a convection term. The proofs involve Carleman estimates, a smoothing procedure, and an extension of the Nakamura-Uhlmann pseudodifferential conjugation method to logarithmic Carleman weights.

Wave imaging
This chapter discusses imaging methods related to wave phenomena, and in particular inverse problems for the wave equation will be considered. The first part of the chapter explains the boundary control method for determining a wave speed of a medium from the response operator which models boundary measurements. The second part discusses the scattering relation and travel times, which are diffe...
متن کاملDetermining a First Order Perturbation of the Biharmonic Operator by Partial Boundary Measurements
We consider an operator ∆ + A(x) · D + q(x) with the Navier boundary conditions on a bounded domain in R, n ≥ 3. We show that a first order perturbation A(x) ·D+ q can be determined uniquely by measuring the Dirichlet–to–Neumann map on possibly very small subsets of the boundary of the domain. Notice that the corresponding result does not hold in general for a first order perturbation of the La...
متن کاملMaximal Monotone Model with Delay Term of Convolution
Mechanical models are governed either by partial differential equations with boundary conditions and initial conditions (e.g., in the frame of continuum mechanics) or by ordinary differential equations (e.g., after discretization via Galerkin procedure or directly from the model description) with the initial conditions. In order to study dynamical behavior of mechanical systems with a finite nu...
متن کاملAn analytic solution for a non-local initial-boundary value problem including a partial differential equation with variable coefficients
This paper considers a non-local initial-boundary value problem containing a first order partial differential equation with variable coefficients. At first, the non-self-adjoint spectral problem is derived. Then its adjoint problem is calculated. After that, for the adjoint problem the associated eigenvalues and the subsequent eigenfunctions are determined. Finally the convergence ...

S BOOK Analytic hypo-ellipticity in the presence of lower order terms Paolo Albano University of Bologna, Italy It is well known that the hypoellipticity of a partial differential operator heavily depends on the lower order terms, both in the C∞ and in the analytic category. We consider a second order operator with analytic coefficients whose principal symbol vanishes exactly of order two on a ...
